The Twisting Den - Page 12 Empty The Twisting Den

Post by Hurricane Sat May 25, 2013 12:05 am

First topic message reminder :

This den is a maze of tunnels intertwined with each other, only the members knowing how to get through it without being lost. A small hole in the roof lets water drip into the den and leaves a large pool of water for the canids. This is the main roleplay area.

Hurrican egave the human a slight nod in response. "Where is he taking us, and when?" He asked Lucha, a little friendly now, but still wary. He watched as Nelson patted down on Lucha's mane, coming up and giving the human a curious sniff. He smelled different than other humans the Dingo had seen here. "Well... he seems okay." Hurricane agreed slowly.

Lucha disregarded his previous questions of panic and concern. She nodded as he approached to at least gather the biologist's scent.

"Thas tha speret! C'man, he'll take as samwhere noice." She reassured, following Nelson towards the helicopter. He pulled down on a latch, and slowly, a series of steps folded out from the long plane. He awaited the canines to climb aboard with a wide smile. Lucha, of course, was eager to fly.

Hurrican e on the other hand, was not so eager. Following Lucha warily, he crept past Nelson, ears flat. He climbed the steps, gasping as he paws hit the unnatural surface. "This better be worth it." He muttered to himself.

Layla yawned as she lay down by a small pond. She splayed out her limbs that were sore from the cold. It's good to be back. she thought with a smile. Although the trip to that place of ice was fun, she wasn't physically built for those conditions.

The Twisting Den - Page 12 Empty Re: The Twisting Den

Post by Gary Sat Jan 04, 2014 9:42 pm

words: 1090 / thoughts / voices / speech
The days of wandering and thinking led him to many new discoveries. What it was like to camp out beside a tree trunk and have to eat dead rats that he knew were probably infested with disease, but was too hungry to really give a care either way. To have to go to sleep in pain, scratches on his malnourished hide that he couldn't take to the doctor to get fixed but hope that his weak knowledge in medicine would keep them uninfected. The ache of constant backstabbing of those he had, simply because there was no other way. Learning the sick truth of existence; there's only so much freedom a male or female could get in this hell called life, and to some it was only an illusion. Protecting oneself from nature is not something easily done, especially when one is sad.

And then this pack. This new territory, where he would've been born and raised hadn't he been from the faraway fairytale land called Uke. Gary began to wonder if what compelled him to join their ranks was accompanied by that strange longing. An odd craving that Gary couldn't really find a meaning for. All he knew was that he yearned to feel safe. To trust in another. There was something about the ache of this odd emotion that, as it washed over him late in his lonesome during the night, scared him. It made his body feel empty and hollow, as if he went any longer without the need met, without the love, the security felt, it would kill him. The numbness would embrace him and consume him. It reoccurred even after he joined the pack, but it wasn't as persistent. Once in a while he would question whether he would have to succumb to the pain again, the little, subtle yet effective distraction that made things seem better for a while. He really had no rebuttal to it, he was toeing the line dangerously close and he knew it. He enjoyed and despised every touch, and he needed it as badly as it needed him. Thus, his reprimands to ignore this loneliness were halfhearted, because he knew it was always bound to come back. But things were better now, maybe not completely, but he had somewhere to sleep, and someone to guide him, and many to appreciate and rely on him. He wasn't ready to allow the pieces of her broken, messed up head come crashing down and bury him alive just yet, not when things were about to get so much better.

Title #17: Running is an Option, Too

Before he went off on a rant about responsibility and about the things he had in comparison to the things he wanted, he caught herself. It was not a bad thing to be a part of such a large, fabulous community. All of his friends would eventually be here. There were all kinds of landscapes here, too. But what he really wanted was time alone. He'd worded it incorrectly, he knew, but she wanted time where he wasn't bogged down with work to do and thoughts of his dead family and companions. But he, himself, didn't like the idea of a vacation, and he never would allow himself to go out on that type of thing; to peel out. Gary was Garyl's responsibility. He winced, suddenly. The word kept echoing in his mind, torchering him, penetrating through his mental barrier. If he drove himself insane with this pointless stress, he'd be amused. But amusement was not what he needed. That variable was still unidentified. Gary paused, his snowy fur bristling as he picked up a flower of lavender. It was supposed to calm him but, if anything, it put him more on edge. Over anything, Gary's greatest fear was losing his mind under any circumstances. He wanted his thoughts to be his and he wanted to remember what was happening now sanely in the future. Gary hated flowers with every nerve he could pull out, as the whole genus was full one of the plants that intimidated him, as somehow it's sweet scents were supposed to evaporate through his nostrils and calm him. He couldn't help but wonder what the plant was actually hacking into within his mind, what it was ruining, what it was stealing. That's why he spent so much alone time, though. Not because of the plant, of course. He exercised his mind, imagined things, thought about things. Anything. He just wanted to keep himself.

Deep golden oculars were dark as always, seemingly with the shadow of sadness. Sleek dial yielding no apparent emotion; an almost blank, or even forlorn set of maw and lids. Touching the sharpened, crazed senses of Gary were the excited murmur of voices, and accompanying this discovery was the scents of all the animals that were now slipping into order in this clearing -- pack mates and self-proclaimed leaders. Only one was familiar, however; the soft, silky tone of his own pelt. But one of the others was low like that of a female's. But what disturbed him the most of this new melody was the hostility that was layered dangerously onto it. Thoughts bubbled inside his spaced thoughts. But the biggest question that lay unanswered was: why had those so high up even considered him? According to the smell that drifted up Gary's dark charred snout, the fabled members of the pack's council lingered about, ears open and faces ginger as they seemed to always be. And, further yet, they hadn't come from far away. Soft traces of the local woodlands dabbed the odd redolence, but they were faint. So very faint that Gary could barely tell that these wolves were special at all. But it was there, and he recognized it. It reminded him of the far away continent he used to call home; back in the depths of the den in which he'd been brought into the world, albeit miserably (but that was beside the point). Hidden in the wonders of the mountains and invulnerable to any potential danger or sadness, the sadness in which he was named after, and where his old family once resided. Just that moment a painful stab of sorrow tore at the hole in his chest, tearing the metaphorical injury open again. He flinched mentally; brows furrowing, darkening his expression as the memories did his thoughts. Taking a deep breath and releasing it, as if that would dispel the images that clouded his mind, he focused his attention elsewhere.

The Twisting Den - Page 12 Empty Re: The Twisting Den

Post by Skyfall Mon Jan 06, 2014 4:06 pm

Skyfall is too glad to be back home. In Alaska, there are too many humans for her liking. Skyfall would never forgive the humans for taking her away from her family.

Skyfall padded over to her favorite spot next to a stream that is not too far from the Twisting Den. A few wolves had been there, but most of the time it is just Skyfall. Therefore, it is a perfect place for Skyfall to be alone.

Skyfall watched the little fish swim around in the water. Sometimes Skyfall pretends to be one of them. After awhile, Skyfall took shelter underneath a tree to lay down. Tucking her paws under her chest, Skyfall wonders whether or not that someone would find her here and talk to her.

Then again, the other wolves are too busy doing their own thing to try to get to know Skyfall better. Perhaps after resting she'll try to meet new wolves that seem friendly.

Layla sniffed the air as she spotted her brother. Immediately she rose to her paws and trotted off to greet him with a warm smile and a friendly lick on the cheek. She was so happy to finally see him again. "How's your pack doing?" she asked. "You've grown so much..." she added, examining his strong muscular form.

Layla's nose twitched when she scented someone new. She quickly dashed along the dry nutrient starved soil and flung her self into a a newcomer(Thunter), she flung all of her weight into him in an attempt to knock him over. Growling, teeth bared, she pushed her face up into his. "Who are you and what are you doing on pack territory?" she snarled.

Suddenly Skyfall scented another wolf along with Layla. Thinking that Layla was hurt, Skyfall bounded over, thankfully to see that the pack leader's sister is not harmed. Yet Layla was snarling at the newcomer (Thunter) as if he had hurt her.

"But you are on pack territory!" Skyfall said after Layla's fierce question and the newcomer's reply. "Surely you have a better reason."

A murder.
That’s what they call it when a bunch of those big, soot-colored birds gather around. He used to inquire about the name when he was a little fetus Gary, but he was always told by his brother and dad that it didn’t matter. He’d always known what murder meant as a word, though: Ending someone’s life on purpose. Although, he never understood why anyone would even consider starting such a dispute.

As he grew from fetus Gary to semi-mature teenage-but-still-preteen Gary, he began to realize where the murderous nature was coming from. Three months after his birthday and a month before his dad’s, his mother disappeared. At first, he thought that she’d slipped out for an unsaid work trip, but she'd never do something as shady as that. Gary's mom could hardly speak to anyone or even stand in public without evaporating into ex-Mom. Her anxiety was the main thing that made Gary fairly sure that she'd run away to conceal herself in permanent privacy -- he knew that she still loved dad.

He didn’t think anything else but that she ran away from the family now. She didn’t seem like the suicide type to him, quite frankly, and that was his only comfort on the well being of his family -- his only comfort. His father was still probably looking frantically around every corner expectantly, like his mom would hop out of the shrubbery and exclaim “Here I am!”

Tile #21: No Promises

Nobody had bothered with Gary so far; he was just an obnoxious distraction in the crowd. A lonely, pathetic loser with no hopes of conversation. At best, he could lean over and introduce himself to this structured female before him (Skyfall) and whisper short conversation. He nodded to her and approached solemnly, head down and ears erect. "Pardon my butting in, mademoiselle but -- of course, how indecisive of me. My name is Gary," he flickered his creamy tail, "and I am a scholar. A messenger for the band, albeit."

Post by Gary Tue Jan 14, 2014 7:21 pm

addressed: skyfall / thoughts / voices / speech
Before him was this brilliant tapestry of woven gray threads; so gray it reminded him of the valiant gray sky as it fought through the white clouds in order to mark its territory. The dull sky on the stormy day; the vanguard. In most parts of Australia, it'd seldom rain, save for the few drops of so called "water" that poured from the sky. To emphasize that point, this wolf's eyes were blue-green, like that liquid running in torrents from the void above. She was the storm; he was talking to someone with such an eloquently arranged pelt that it should be recorded.

It had been a while since Gary had spoken to anyone.

Tile #22: Speaking with the Showers

'My name is Skyfall, a Jagter,' she introduced herself. Gary nodded as if he knew what "Jagter" meant; a rank in context but a mystery in use. He was an intellect when it came to trivia and English, but lost when it came to other languages. He didn't dare question further for the sake of this short conversation. "Greatest pleasure to make your acquaintance -- the weather is quite nice today, is it not?" He spoke, a bit dodgy when it came to head on speaking. Idle pleasantries would do for now.

(I is confused... Thunter is supposed to be talking with Layla)
"There are only friendly faces to packmates and friends, I am protecting my pack!" she flashed a glance back at her brother. "Hurricane!" she called. Her impressions of this male was that he was either a stalker for knowing her brothers name and or a soft pup, cowering for his mother. "Do you know this guy?"

She pushed her muzzle closer to the newcomer's. "I don't know how you know his name, but if you dare hurt or threaten my brother, you will have to answer to me!"
